In-Brief

• Better times are coming!
• President Biden’s political future is in jeopardy.
• It is now accurate to say that the US economy, at least for the short-run, is in “stagnation,” not stagflation. Inflation is still too high, but core inflation for the last six months has dropped to less than 3%, down from over 9%. High inflation was caused by the horrible fiscal policies of the Biden administration and the flawed monetary policies of the Federal Reserve.
• Inflation is now slowing for sure. The evidence is strong and clear. The Core PCE inflation measure out on Thursday Jan. 27 came in at less than 3% for the last quarter of 2022.
• The House Republicans are setting up committees to investigate the FBI, DOJ, CIA, and other corrupt federal agencies. Expect political fireworks and numerous surprises.
• China is now in economic, political, public health, and societal chaos as President Xi’s anti-Covid measures have failed miserably. The Lunar New Year holiday has started and will temporarily worsen China’s health and economic crisis. China’s population is now falling and will continue to do so for decades. And its property development industry, over 25% of the Chinese economy, is in the toilet and not likely to recover much anytime soon.
