In-Brief

• Biden and the Ds are now trying to run against Trump and “Ultra MAGA” … stupid mistake. He is not on this year’s ballot. The issues the voters care about are inflation, crime, the southern border crisis, abortion [both sides], gas, and food prices, etc.
• Trump continues as Republican kingmaker but experienced some losses last week but wins as well.
• Inflation is high and likely to stay that way throughout 2022. First quarter GDP was down but 2^nd quarter US growth is strengthening.
• Putin has lost the first phase of the war in Ukraine and the war is transitioning to a second phase, which he will also lose. The West is now sending heavier weapons to the Ukraine to counter Russian firepower and Ukraine is putting them to good use.
• The US economy continues to be strong, with good job growth and just 3.6% unemployment.
• China’s economy keeps getting into deeper trouble and is almost surely in a recession.
• Much of the world, but not the US, except in limited food categories, is going to suffer extensive and dangerous food shortages, famine, and starvation this year and next.
