In-Brief

• Job growth came in last week well above estimates. No sign of an imminent recession.
• Biden and the Ds are now trying to run against Trump and “Ultra MAGA” … stupid mistake. Trump is not on this year’s ballot. The issues the voters care about are inflation, crime, the southern border crisis, gas and food prices, etc.
• Neither the abortion nor guns issue is likely to play a major role in the November elections.
• Inflation is high and likely to stay that way throughout 2022. First quarter GDP was down but 2^nd quarter US growth is strengthening.
• The US economy continues to be strong, with good job growth and just 3.6% unemployment.
• China’s economy keeps getting into deeper trouble and is stagnant or in a recession.
• Much of the world, but not the US, except in limited food categories, is going to suffer extensive and dangerous food shortages, famine, and starvation this year and next.
